What percentage of your life do you think is actually yours? How many of your decisions do you get to make for yourself? Who decides your goals and pursuits? And when was the last time you spent an entire day doing nothing other than what you damn well pleased?
For those of you still in school, let me assure you it only gets worse.
We tell ourselves we are free, but we aren't even close. Oh, I'll grant you that here in America we enjoy more freedoms than in many other places, but are we full and well free?
Not even close!
Visa owns us, and so does Mastercard and the new Ford Ranger you just obligated yourself to pay for over the next five years.
Your home ownes you and if not, then your landlord ownes you just the same.
Your job ownes your soul and isn't going to give it back, not even after you've clawed your way to the top (which of course, you won't.)
Petty marketing schemes decide what you have for dinner, and MTV decides what you will wear on your date this weekend.
Think I'm exaggerating?
Then why do they spend more money on advertising than on production?
