A generalization is by very definition NOT a specific comment.
An emotional sentiment is not a dictation of reality.
Therefor, when I say: "I feel like everyone is trying to get rid of me" it is neither an insult to anyone in particular nor an admission that I actually believe everyone hates me.
I just feel like that sometimes.
We all do, I'm sure, but I am the kind of person that says exactly whats on my mind.
It's a little insulting when I make a generalized comment about a generalized emotion and my friends take offence.
Had I said: "You are a terrible friend because you hate me" it would have been different.
Sometimes I just feel like shit. Telling me I'm an inappreciative asshole doesn't really remedy that situation.
