I had a dream last night that has me seriously emotionally fuckered up right now. It's not that it was a bad dream, or even that it had much to do with my current emotional drama. It had to do with someone I thought I had broken all emotional ties to and the realization that I hadn't came as a shock.
So in my dream, I was climbing into bed when Becky, my ex-wife walks in... but it's no the Becky anyone here in Colorado knows... it's the Becky I fell in love with... she's still rather thin, tanned, and has long golden waves that fall down her back...
She looks at me and says, "Mind if I join you?" and I say, "Sure. Climb on in" and I turn back the covers on the other side of the bed.
She climbs in and just lays there like a rag doll, not moving, not speaking, so I roll over and put my hand on her shoulder and look deep into her eyes and ask "Are you ok?"
She almost imperceptably shakes her head side to side, and then starts crying...
And that is where I woke up shaking...
I would have just written it off, but it's been ten years since she looked like that. It's been four years since we were married, and longer since I was in love with her. Why is it that our brains love to throw this stuff at us at the most inopportune times?
